Tom Wijmeersch appointed Chief Real Estate Entrepreneur at Kinepolis Group
17 December 2025
Kinepolis Group announces today that Mr Tom Wijmeersch will be appointed Chief Real Estate Entrepreneur from 1 January 2026. With this position and Mr Wijmeersch's appointment, Kinepolis intends to further deepen and develop its third strategic pillar, namely the optimal management of its real estate activities.
Kinepolis holds a unique position as the Group owns a substantial share of its cinemas. Globally, 50% of its visitors are welcomed in the 50 cinemas for which Kinepolis owns the real estate. Further optimizing and leveraging this property portfolio remains a key driver of value creation for the Group. Currently, Kinepolis already generates €14.5 million in property income outside cinema operations. The new Chief Real Estate Entrepreneur will be responsible for the further (re)development of project land and underutilized assets.
Tom Wijmeersch, 50, brings more than 25 years of experience in real estate development and project management. He started his career in construction and engineering and grew into an experienced property developer with extensive expertise in complex residential and commercial projects. He held managerial positions at Triple Living, Uplace and Group Minerva/Parfinim, among others. During his career, Tom was involved in major redevelopment projects, supervising the full project cycle.
“Tom combines strategic insight with strong operational ability and a proven track record in value creation within real estate,” said Eddy Duquenne, CEO of Kinepolis Group. “His experience and leadership will support us in the further development of our real estate portfolio and the sustainable growth of the Group.”
“I am excited to join Kinepolis and help build a real estate strategy that enhances both the customer experience and value creation for the Group,” said Tom Wijmeersch. “I look forward to working with the team to deliver innovative projects that enhance the multifunctionality of our sites.”
