With Play Kinepolis, Play Media, Telenet and Kinepolis are launching a new, enhanced ‘movie on demand’ zone

A brand new cross-media collaboration that strengthens the visibility and impact of film

February 2, 2026

Good news for movie lovers, as Play Media, Telenet and Kinepolis are joining forces to offer the ultimate movie experience at home or on the go with Play Kinepolis, starting today, Monday February 2, and available via the Play app and Telenet TV box.

Users can rent or purchase individual films via the Play Kinepolis Play app. This also heralds the start of a cross-media collaboration, enabling smart cross-promotion between movie offerings in cinemas and movies for home consumption. Ranging from highlighting a complete film series when the latest installment is released in theaters, to joint promotional initiatives and events. Movie tickets can also be ordered from Kinepolis via the platform.

Hans Van Acker, Chief Strategic Businesses & Developments at Kinepolis Group: “At the root of this collaboration is a common goal to create greater awareness about movies and the movie experience. Our brands, which are leaders in the cinema and home entertainment market, are joining forces to make movies more visible and customers even more aware of the range of current and former theatrical releases on offer. The chronology will not be affected, films with a theatrical release will initially be shown exclusively in cinemas before becoming available on Play Kinepolis. Our aim is to inspire even more people to experience movies in both cinemas and at home.”

As a result of this cross-media collaboration, Play Media, Telenet and Kinepolis will ensure that the visibility and impact of movies − both in cinemas and at home − will only increase. It's a win-win for everyone: movie makers, cinemas and viewers.

“Play Kinepolis is forging a link between the magic of the cinema and enjoying movies at home,” Kenny Henderyckx, Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer at Play Media explained. “We aim to create the best possible movie experience for movie lovers, continually enriching the viewing experience both at home and in the cinema. Play Kinepolis makes it straightforward and easily accessible for Flemish viewers: thanks to the collaboration between the three parties, a single movie destination is now available on all platforms. In doing so, we are constantly looking for new opportunities to further strengthen our cooperation. Typical examples include exclusive promotions and previews or unique experience elements within the Play Kinepolis environment.”

How does it work

At Play Kinepolis users pay per movie. Viewers can choose to rent a movie for a limited period of time or buy the movie to watch it again and again indefinitely. Viewers pay only for what they want to watch, without a subscription.

What’s on offer with Play Kinepolis

Play Kinepolis brings both recent blockbusters and local hits immediately after their cinema careers. Animated films, romantic comedies, cult films, Hollywood blockbusters or more avant-garde movies, Play Kinepolis has it all.

And the good news is: the vast Disney catalog will now also be available as part of the Play Kinepolis range with both the latest titles and an extensive library selection. Moreover, major international studios such as Warner, Paramount and Sony, for example, as well as a large number of independent distributors are also part of Play Kinepolis.

Dieter Nieuwdorp, Chief Commercial Officer at Telenet: “Play Kinepolis will henceforth replace the Telenet rent movie range, but the principle remains the same. Customers can still rent their favorite content by accessing a user-friendly platform via their Telenet TV box. The range on offer has also been significantly expanded with the arrival of Disney. Users can now both rent movies and order cinema tickets via Play Kinepolis on the Telenet TV box. We are making it easier than ever before for movie lovers to explore movies, both at home and in the cinema.”

Play Kinepolis is being released today and movie lovers will now be able to find lots of movies in the Play app and Telenet TV box.
