Since the launch of online ticket sales in 2002, the Kinepolis website, and for some years also the mobile Kinepolis app, have been the ideal way of quickly consulting the latest film programme and directly purchasing tickets. The previous generation of the app was downloaded over 1 million times, and with around 220,000 active users per month, it was high time the app was updated.
Following intensive preparation, Kinepolis recently launched a new app for both Android and iOS users with an upgraded and user-friendly design. Since the introduction of the previous generation of apps, the Kinepolis offering has evolved significantly, with numerous events and alternative performances besides films, such as opera, ballet, art exhibitions and concerts. After the website the mobile apps also got an upgrade with a better structure and easier navigation for the user. For example, film-related events (such as Ladies at The Movies, Seniors at The Movies, Horror Nights, etc.) can now also be seen next to the regular programming of the films.
In addition, there is an improved integration of the 'My Kinepolis' profile, so that the app also provides suggestions based on your personal (film) preferences and shows your own movie wish list and movie history. On the technical side, things were overhauled and greatly simplified. For the first time, tickets are now delivered directly into the app, via the user's 'My Kinepolis' account. And now payment of the tickets can be done via some payment systems by simply entering a PIN code in the smartphone. The ticket in the app contains a barcode which is then quickly scanned in the cinema. Select film and cinema, pay and receive your ticket - from now on it's all possible with a couple of clicks via the Kinepolis app.

The new Kinepolis apps for Android and iOS users were developed by Bazookas, a Belgian agency that is part of the Cronos group. The new apps follow the renewed website www.kinepolis.com and were launched simultaneously in Belgium, Spain, France and the Netherlands. In the future even more features will be added to the app, such as the possibility to send messages to the cinema staff during a screening.
