Kinepolis opens first Spanish all-laser cinema complex in Granada

| General

Granada, Spain - Kinepolis Group has officially opened its new cinema situated in the brand new 'Nevada' shopping mall in Armilla, in the Southwest of Granada. Kinepolis' Nevada complex has 8 screens and 1,693 seats and targets nearly 400,000 visitors a year. It is the first Spanish cinema to be fully equipped with laser projectors, ensuring razor-sharp image quality in every theatre.

"Kinepolis is constantly looking for innovative technologies which can perfectly convey the magic of films. We're happy to offer visitors in our new Nevada complex the best possible image technology and take the film experience to an even higher level", explains Eddy Duquenne, CEO Kinepolis Group. "Also, the choice of Barco's laser projectors ensures enhanced ease of use and significant energy savings, up to 40 percent, thanks to the absence of lamps."

After opening Europe's first all-laser cinema in Breda (the Netherlands) last summer, the new Kinepolis complex in Granada is the Group's second all-laser complex to open, followed in a couple of weeks by two more brand new complexes in Utrecht (the Netherlands) and Fenouillet (Toulouse, France).

Kinepolis already has a 15-screen, 4,600-seat cinema complex in Granada, opened in 2004. This new, second complex will allow Kinepolis to reinforce its position in the area and to offer Kinepolis' unique cinema experience to an even wider audience. "We are confident that the city of Granada offers enough opportunity for several multiplexes, especially within the context of the Nevada project, which will broaden the catchment area of this new cinema significantly", says Duquenne. The Nevada shopping mall has a surface of 280,000 m² and includes 6,000 parking spaces and 250 shops, of which 185 already opened.

Kinepolis entered the Spanish market in 1998, with the opening of Kinepolis Madrid, the world's biggest multiplex (25 screens) at the time. In 2014, Kinepolis took over the cinemas Abaco Alcobendas in Madrid and Abaco Cinebox in Alicante. Both cinemas have been thoroughly renovated and operate under the Kinepolis brand since. With this brand new second multiplex in Granada, Kinepolis now has six cinema complexes in Spain.
