Kinepolis launches 'Laser ULTRA by Kinepolis'

Kinepolis has combined two revolutionary technologies developed by Barco and Dolby to offer its cinemagoers a unique cinema experience with 'Laser ULTRA by Kinepolis'. This technology was launched in Brussels today, 10 December 2014, on the occasion of the release of 'The Hobbit, the Battle of the Five Armies'. Kinepolis Brussels, Antwerp, Lomme (Lille) and Madrid are the first cinema screens in the world to be equipped with Laser ULTRA. These flagship cinemas each have one Laser ULTRA screen.   'Laser ULTRA by Kinepolis' uses Barco's latest laser projector, the only one in the world capable of displaying 4K content at 60 frames per second and of projecting 3D films in 4K resolution at exceptional luminous intensity (60,000 lumens). Where traditional film projectors use xenon lamps, a laser projector can provide an abundance of light with a broader and more natural colour palette and a better contrast ratio.   With the immersive Dolby Atmos sound system, 'Laser ULTRA by Kinepolis' also provides for multidimensional sound. The music, the characters and the film elements come to life thanks to the clear, rich sound that floats above the viewers and gives them the impression of being in the thick of the action.   Thanks to the combination of these two technologies everything seems to be even more realistic and cinemagoers are immersed in a higher dimension of film experience.
