Following the release of applications for the iPhone and Android, Kinepolis Group now announces the launch of an international cinema application for the iPad as well. The move represents yet another step forward in Kinepolis' already extensive mobile services for cinemagoers. As such the new app responds to the increasing popularity of tablet computers.

The free iPad app is the next step in Kinepolis' highly successful mobile strategy.

That strategy began with the launch of the group's iPhone application in May 2010. Since then, the Kinepolis app has been downloaded some 130,000 times, 88,000 of which in Belgium. A similar app for Android followed in January this year, which has already been downloaded a total of 25,000 times.

The iPad app, launched today, was developed by In the Pocket, one of Belgium's leading mobile developers.

However, this latest step is far from the final chapter in Kinepolis' mobile ambitions. The group is investigating the possibility of expanding all applications with ticketing capabilities. Kinepolis is the first cinema group in Belgium to release such apps onto the market.

More info about the Kinepolis iPad app

The first Kinepolis iPad app can be downloaded from the App Store via iTunes at

http://itunes.apple.com/app/kinepolis-magazine/id426676558?mt=8&ls=1

The iPad application is designed to make full use of the tablet computer's larger screen in comparison with other mobile devices. Posters are shown in larger format and many of the trailers are available in HD quality.

Users of the application can browse Kinepolis' current screenings and select movies according to various criteria: recommended, new, all movies now showing, upcoming titles. For each movie, users can access all relevant details such as the poster in large format, a short synopsis, cast, duration, trailers, etc. So it is even easier to make a selection.

Naturally, the app also lets users view the schedule for each Kinepolis cinema.

Users can create their own personal 'watch list' with their favourite movies and can invite friends to go watch a movie together by sharing content via Facebook, Twitter or e-mail.
