The Netherlands, Breda - Today, the most recent addition to the Kinepolis family, Kinepolis Breda, has been officially inaugurated by CEOs Eddy Duquenne and Joost Bert. Kinepolis Breda has been open to the public since 1 August, but the official opening was planned for after the summer break. The cinema, which is situated in the 'Breepark' event area, is the second newly-built cinema that Kinepolis has opened this year in the Netherlands, after Kinepolis Dordrecht last February.
Additionally, Kinepolis Breda is the first European cinema to be fully equipped with laser projectors, and the first in the Netherlands with a Kinepolis Laser ULTRA theatre. Laser ULTRA combines the unique image quality of Barco's Flagship laser projector with the Dolby Atmos immersive sound system. The combination of these two technologies ensures a more intense film experience. The other nine theatres are equipped with laser phosphor projectors, which provide razor-sharp image quality in every theatre. "Kinepolis is constantly looking for innovative technologies which can perfectly convey the magic of films. With Barco's laser projection, we can offer our visitors in Breda the best possible image technology and take the film experience to an even higher level", explains Eddy Duquenne, CEO Kinepolis Group.
Since the opening to the public on 1 August, countless film lovers have already visited the cinema. Earlier this week the 50,000th visitor was put in the spotlight.
Eddy Duquenne: "This project is special for us, because back then it was our first step into the Dutch market, even before we took over the Wolff Bioscopen cinema chain. In the meantime we now have 15 multiplexes here, of which 4 are true Kinepolis cinemas. I am proud of the fact that we can now offer our unique film experience in Breda as well, with the best quality image and sound, comfortable seats, free parking space, a customer-friendly experience and a great film for every target group."
Kinepolis Breda has 10 theatres and more than 1,700 seats. Once fully established, 450,000 visitors are expected every year. With the opening of this new cinema, Kinepolis now has 15 cinemas in the Netherlands and 47 in total, spread across 7 countries. The next opening in the Netherlands is not too far into the future: Kinepolis Jaarbeurs in Utrecht will open its doors in early 2017. In the meantime, Kinepolis is also working on new-build projects in Granada (Spain), in Fenouillet, near Toulouse, and in Brétigny-sur-Orge, 35km away from Paris.
